Veteran-owned Pittsburgh coffee company giving back this Memorial Day

A local, veteran-owned coffee business in the Pittsburgh area is giving back to those who served.

Brave Bean, with locations in Pitcairn and the North Side, says that 10 percent of every sale (now through Memorial Day Monday) will be donated to it’s new Veterans and First Responders Fund.

The fund provides free coffee and supports veteran events in the Pittsburgh area and around Southwestern PA.

Brave Bean has donated to groups like Wounded Warrior Project, 98 Octane, Detroit Area Marines, and Artists in Arms, among others.

“The long-term vision of Brave Bean is to support veterans as small business owners by setting them up with their own Brave Bean coffee food trucks and managing their own storefronts,” Communications director for Brave Bean, Isabelle Ramsey tells KDKA Radio.

Customers can also donate a dollar or more extra when they checkout.

If you can’t make it to Pitcairn or the North Side, Brave Bean is also available at select Giant Eagle and Market District locations.

Giant Eagle: Camp Horne, Cranberry, Donaldson’s Crossroads, Gibsonia, and Glenshaw, and at Market District: Murrysville, Settlers Ridge, Shadyside, South Hills Village, Twp. of Pine, and Waterworks.

Other locations are also planned for the future.

Brave Bean was co-founded by Milo Speranzo, a service-disabled veteran, who wanted to help revitalize his hometown of Pitcairn.

Speranzo partnered with Ray Ramey to create what has become Brave Bean.
