According to reports, the Pirates are releasing designated hitter Marcell Ozuna.

Post-Gazette Pirates reporter Colin Beazley and others are reporting the release.

Signed as a free agent in the offseason, Ozuna is currently hitting .203 with an OPS of .612.

He has 51 hits over 251 at bats, with eight home runs and 29 RBI through 70 games.

He has a -1.0 WAR and the Pirates have a record of 28-42 when he plays.

The 35-year-old signed a one-year, $12 million contract with the Pirates and has been one of the most disappointing free agent signings for the Pirates in recent memory.

Infielder/outfielder Ronny Simon is reportedly the corresponding move and will be called up to Pittsburgh from Triple-A Indianapolis.

Simon is currently hitting .330 with the Indians.

He has 33 stolen bases, seven home runs, 63 RBI and an OPS of .889.
