A Pittsburgh-area bus driver that was caught on video blowing up at elementary school students Wednesday says he has nothing to apologize for.

Video captured shows a bus driver for GG&C Bus Company, driving students from Washington Park Primary School. He is seen yelling at the kids, telling them to “shut up.”

He also is heard calling the kids “morons”.

George Lammay, Washington School District Superintendent, tells KDKA Radio they are working with the bus company “to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, bus drivers, and staff.”

“While the school district administration does not condone bus drivers calling our students' names, it also acknowledges the challenges of driving a bus and managing problematic student behaviors,” Lammay said in a statement.

As a result of the incident, adult monitors will be on school buses beginning on Monday, March 31.

“School districts across the country are struggling to hire bus drivers,” said Lammay. “These challenges can only be met with a collective resolve to ensure a positive environment for all. The Washington School District and GG&C Bus Company are committed to that end.”

The driver, identified as John King said on Facebook he doesn’t regret his actions but does not like losing his temper.

“I actually hate blowing up,” wrote King. “Makes me feel terrible and weak. On its own it doesn't look great but I stand by my actions.”

Many parents have come to King’s defense on social media, with others calling for him to be fired.

No indication has been made that King will be dismissed.
