Tom Wolf becomes first democratic governor open to voter I.D. requirements

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio KDKA) - Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf said he is open to voter I.D. requirements this week, as long as the conditions don't suppress votes in any way.

Wolf vetoed a voter I.D. bill sponsored by Pa. State Representative Seth Grove in June,

"Data shows Americans in Pennsylvania support voter I.D. - Republicans, Democrats, Independents," Grove said during the KDKA Radio Morning Show Friday.

The bill provides every single mechanism to allow you to go vote, doesn't turn anybody away and ensures that everyone voting is a registered voter in Pennsylvania.

Grove said the pushback comes from a national talking point,

"Any Republican bill is viewed as voter suppression and racist. We did a lot of things different here in Pennsylvania," said Grove.
