Wanted man arrested after crashing car, jumping into river

A man wanted for stealing guns from a car in a Downtown parking garage jumped into the Monongahela River Wednesday after leading officers on a chase.

Pittsburgh Public Safety says police tried to pull over a car at Wood Street and Forbes Avenue around 4 p.m.

The man drove away and Sheriff's Deputies followed him over the Fort Pitt Bridge and onto West Carson Street, where he crashed into a pole by Station Square, ran from the vehicle and jumped into the river.

He eventually pulled himself out and was arrested.

Police say the unidentified man is facing multiple charges.
