The City of Washington's Rally on Main has been canceled after a bar was targeted and attacked by a motorcycle club.
The city announced Monday afternoon the bike show was canceled "due to an unfortunate event... over the weekend."
In a social media post, Forty Bar & Grille said the establishment was targeted in a "brutal and unprovoked attack" by a motorcycle club on Saturday night.
Several bartenders and guests hid in the basement during the chaos.
Cheyenne, the owner of Forty Bar and Grille wrote in a Facebook post, in part:
“The aftermath of this event has left our community shaken, and understandably, IT HAS IMPACTED LARGER EVENTS LIKE THE " RALLY ON MAIN " ... WHILE WE SHARE THE DISAPPOINTMENT THAT THIS YEAR’S "RALLY ON MAIN " CANNOT MOVE FOWARD, It is important the blame is not misplaced on victims of this attack. The responsibility for this incident lies solely with those who carried out these violent acts.
