There are concerns across Pennsylvania about milk contamination in some places and one of the concerns is bird flu.

But, local milk producers tell KDKA Radio there is no need for alarm.

“I would not be concerned at all,” said Jeff Ansell, owner of Marburger Diary Farm in Evans City. “We’re definitely safe when it comes to milk.”

He tells the Big K Morning Show that the local milk supply is safe, but he wants the public to know that they're still learning about the disease, how it can mutate and what it can evolve into.

“We have the safest food supply in the world,” said Marburger. “We as farms and dairymen here, in the area we take this very seriously and we’ve been on top of it working with . . . our local veterinarians.”

Marburger adds that farmers don’t only put the same food on their own tables, it’s their livelihood and they don’t want to jeopardize that.

He also says they're keeping in touch with the department of agriculture and other producers around the country to see how they are handling the situation.
