The Sharpsville School District in Mercer County is moving to a remote learning program beginning Thursday, December 3 as a result of students being exposed to positive COVID-19 cases.
In addition, practices for sports teams and extracurricular activities have been postponed.
Practices for High School athletes in grades 9-12 can resume on December 28.
Middle school athletes not until January 4, 2021.
The announcement was made by the district's Superintendent John Vannoy in a letter to families.
Students are believed to have been exposed outside of school.
Vannoy urged parents to follow CDC guidelines for quarantining if their child has been exposed positive cases.
Vannoy said it's "not an optional decision" if the school is to return to in-person classes.
The district hopes to resume in-person classes on January 4, 2021.
