What's Good In Your Hood: Muffy Mendoza, Founder Brown Mamas of Pittsburgh

Muffy Mendoza founded a movement that brings all women of color together for inspiration, encouragement, awareness and bonding.

She developed this organization called the Brown Mamas of Pittsburgh and through her relationships with local health organizations like UPMC who saw her passion to help women become more aware of their bodies while carrying their children, she found there are way too many out here who struggle mentally and physically.

The Brown Mamas of Pittsburgh assists women of color by providing outlets for them to express their fears, wants, and needs for their families.

The numbers where many black women are dying from childbirth, mental health related issues, abuse, and more, The Brown Mamas embrace those struggles by creating a safe space for them to get it all out.

That's through meetups, podcasts, and a monologue event which I participated in this year.

The Brown Mama Monologues is an event where several women of color talk about their struggles with motherhood, abuse, loss, faith, and growth.
