We don’t talk enough about our vets! We recognize them on Veterans Day and on some occasions, we talk about them when we see them on the street (homeless) or when talking about mental illness. Our vets deserve so much more. And that’s what Eric Howze thought when he started his charity group, No Hero Left Behind.
Many of our veterans suffer from PTSD and are left homeless, wandering the streets. We pass them by, sometimes giving them the change left in our car seats but have we ever thought about how they actually got there! What’s their story!
Eric Howze and his wife wanted to honor those unsung heroes by creating a platform where the community can get involved to show appreciation for the many black & brown men and women who fought in the World Wars, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. If you’re ever driving through the Hill District or Homewood, or other urban neighborhoods in Pittsburgh, look up! You’ll see soldier banners commemorating the men and women who served in the armed forces who are still here or have passed on. Their families look to Eric to show their loved ones the respect they deserve. Eric understood the assignment!
