Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated was founded at Howard University, January 9, 1914 at Howard University.

The purpose of bringing this brotherhood together was simply that. To create an organization that viewed itself as “a part of” the general community rather than “apart from” the general community, according to the website.

Jamelle Ushery is the current president of Gamma Lambda Sigma chapter here in Pittsburgh. Honoring the principles of their founders, the Sigmas, as they're proudly known, strive for greatness and excellence in the community through fellowship, service, brotherly love, and scholarship.

You'll see that the Sigmas have been around for many years and are not slowing down at all. They recently conducted a shoe drive for a local church this past weekend and they're always in support of their sister sorority, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, which I am a proud member of.
