Growing up in the Hill District in the 80s and 90s, I took for granted the history this legendary neighborhood carries. From jazz clubs, grocery stores, booming businesses and family homes to becoming dilapidated vacant buildings, empty playgrounds, and a food desert for the hundreds of residents who have chosen to stay.

This week, I am one on one with HIll District CDC (Community Development Corporation) President and CEO, Marimba Milliones who witnessed the changes as I did and stepped in to do something about it.

When you drive through Centre Avenue in the HIll District, you'll see a rebirth of the new Granada, new businesses, and housing developments. You'll see promise and hope restored. It's because Marimba wants to make sure the legacy of the Hill District isn't forgotten by the new generation and give those residents who still live and work in the Hill the opportunity to see that all is not lost.

Being from the Hill District, I am happy to see this change! Marimba explains more. Click the link to watch the full interview.
