What remains of the Fort Pitt Brewery in Westmoreland County is set to come down this week.
The 8-story brick tower and dilapidated structure located in West Jeanette has become somewhat of an eyesore over the last six months.
The property had been the target of vandals and other troublemakers until it was acquired by the Westmoreland County Land Bank two years ago.
Demolition work at the site has been ongoing since mid-July, but the bulk of the work on the tower will take place later this week.
Officials are asking residents and passersby to stay away from the site this week, as the majority of that building will be reduced to rubble.
What's next for the property? A couple of local businesses have already expressed interest in expanding their operations at the site.
