
If you want to see peak fall foliage this weekend, you’ll have to head north or toward the Laurel Highlands.
The weekly fall foliage from the PA Department of Conservation and National Resources shows the counties north of Interstate-80 like Clarion, Jefferson and Venango have the best color.
Somerset and the Laurel Highlands are also at their peak, due to the increased elevation, the leaves turn quickly.
Forbes State Park in Somerset is the closest place to see fall in all of its beauty this weekend, with red and sugar maple at their peak.
Some species of oaks are showing “shades of yellow and russet.”
Other parks to enjoy the fall colors this weekend are Linn Run, Laurel Hill and Ohiopyle State Parks.
In Mercer and Lawrence Counties lost some leave due to heavy rain last week, but the DCNR says there is plenty of foliage to see as they approach peak.
The rest of southwestern Pennsylvania is “approaching best color” and will like be at best next week.
