Bitter cold is hitting Pittsburgh over the next few days and officials say anyone in need of warmth should reach out for help.
Allegheny County’s winter shelter plan is in effect, offering more than 600 beds, including a new overnight shelter on the North Side.
Transportation, hot meals, and access to critical care services are provided, and there’s room for anyone in need.
Each evening, transportation is provided from Second Avenue Commons to the shelter and return rides are offered in the morning.
The easiest way to find a safe place or get help with bills is by calling 211 or texting your ZIP code to 989-211.
Westmoreland County is also expanding warming center options.
Resources and locations can be found through the county's housing and shelter page.
