The house explosion hit a little too close to home for one neighbor.
Longtime concert promoter Rich Engler felt the blast from about a half a mile away on Backbone Road.
He joined a friend and they jumped into action. They found and HVAC worker in shock on a back porch in shock with burns on his hands.
They thought it was a plane or a helicopter crash.
After rushing to scene, calling 9-1-1 and getting an ambulance for an injured worker, they had a surprise when they returned home.
“We just went into our den, in our library and it blew stuff off of the way and it broke glass and an antique musket off of the wall,” said Engler.
The worker suffered severe burns
Two people were inside a second, larger home on the property and were not injured.
In a statement, Columbia Gas said its employees were not working in the area and it does not appear any of its distribution facilities were involved.
