Woman accused of putting puppy into a suitcase on North Side

A woman is facing animal cruelty charges after police say she zipped a puppy inside of a suitcase.

Police say 56-year-old Jayme White became angry at the puppy along Avery Street on the North Side Friday night.

Police allege White then placed the puppy in a suitcase with no way for the puppy to breathe.

Officers took White into custody, they claim she was heavily intoxicated.

The puppy was taken by animal control.
