
An arrest warrant has been issued for a woman accused of starving her dog to death.
Police say 22-year-old Talazia Johnson of Pittsburgh, is accused of abandoning and tethering her dog inside an apartment in the Hill District area of Pittsburgh.
Animal Care Control Officers and Pittsburgh Police found the dog in the unoccupied apartment at the end of July.
Officers found a dead, “significantly decomposed” dog. A leash was attached to the dog’s neck and tied to a door handle inside the apartment.
The case was investigated by a Pittsburgh Police officer who specializes in animal neglect along with assistant from humane officers at Animal Friends.
Johnson is charged with multiple counts of cruelty to animals, four counts of neglect of animals and abandonment of animals by owner.
