Woman escapes but dog dies in Arlington fire

The American Red Cross is helping after two homes were damaged during a fire Monday morning in Arlington.

Pittsburgh Public Safety says flames broke out around 10:30 a.m. on the 100 block of Rinne Street.

A woman in her 70s was able to escape the two-alarm fire with burns to her arm. One dog died inside the home. Three other dogs were able to escape.

The woman was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

A nearby house was also damaged by the fire.

The Red Cross is providing emergency shelter and other services.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire.
