A woman in a wheelchair was injured Friday morning after an accident involving a City of Pittsburgh garbage truck.
It happened after 9:30 on the 400 block of Brownsville Road in Mt. Oliver.
Pittsburgh Public Safety says medics found a female in her late 50s or early 60s with a “serious compound leg fracture” after the truck collided with her and her motorized wheelchair.
She was taken to the hospital and was alert and talking.
Pittsburgh Police are investigating the cause of the accident. Per protocol, the city employee that was operating the truck will be tested for drugs and alcohol.
That employee will be placed on desk duty until the outcome of the investigation.
