A Derry Township woman pleaded guilty on Wednesday to two felony counts of forgery after she was charged with forging her husband's death certificate.
Westmoreland County Detectives say 54-year-old Lori Shawley attempted to recoup a deposit she had put down on a construction project at her Derry Township home because her husband had died suddenly and she needed to pay for the funeral.
The company thought the death certificate she had provided was fraudulent.
Detectives then spoke with Shawley's husband who identified himself as alive and well.
Shawley was sentenced to 5 years of probation and one year of house arrest.
