A female is facing charges after the discovered a loaded .380 firearm in her duffel bag while going through TSA security early Thursday morning.
The handgun was loaded with six bullets and one in the chamber. She was also carrying and additional gun magazine with seven bullets and had six others loose in her bag.
Allegheny County Police say the 25-year-old woman does not have a valid concealed carry permit and the FBI was notified.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of PA recently announced that those who attempt to get a gun through security and have a permit will contact the county sheriff in their residence and request their license be rescinded.
Since it was found the woman does not have a permit, police are filing charges by summons.
Those who attempt to get a gun through TSA security also face civil fines up to $10,000 with repeat offenders facing up to $13,910 in fines.
