According to a report from the Post-Gazette’s Mike White, the Woodland Hills football team is forfeiting two of its wins after the use of an ineligible player.
WPIAL executive director Vince Sortino tells White that the Wolverines had to forfeit three games, but it lost to Central Catholic on September 4, 45-0.
Woodland Hills does not have to forfeit its win this past Friday because the ineligible player didn’t play against Fox Chapel.
The Woodland Hills program has been dealing with other issues this season.
Former head coach Brian Tarrant was suspended for the rest of the season, accused of violating league rules, not connected to the forfeits.
The Wolverines also had to play last Friday’s game in front of only parents and guardians after a Safe2Say threat.
White says the Wolverines “self-reported the ineligible player violation this past Friday. The player attends LIFE Male STEAM Academy in Wilkins Township. Woodland Hills started a cooperative sponsorship this season.”
Sortino tells White the student played before he was made eligible.
The good news for the Wolverines is the losses don’t affect its chance at the playoffs, since the forfeitures are from non-conference games.
