Sixteen people were hospitalized Wednesday morning near Houston after improperly mixed pool chemicals caused a chemical reaction at Great Wolf Lodge.
Webster city officials say everyone affected by the incident was an employee or a contractor. They were transported to HCA Clear Lake Hospital and UTMB Hospital, with decontamination completed beforehand.
The reaction happened in a building that is not attached to the hotel and waterpark. Officials say fire crews isolated the tanks and found that no chemicals were detected in either location.
Today was opening day for that Great Wolf Lodge location and officials say the incident had no impact on its operation as "the situation was quickly contained."
