The stuff of nightmares came to real life for a woman in Alabama who peered into the abyss of the porcelain God and found something terrifying: a snake in her toilet.
Eufaula Police Chief Steve Watkins shared the unfortunate incident in a Facebook post, saying the woman quickly called police for help. Officers responded and assisted the homeowner's strange call for help.
“We never know from one day to the next what kind of call we will receive during our shift. Today was no exception, however, a snake in the toilet wasn’t on our list of possibilities. Day shift removed the unwelcomed visitor and released it to a more suitable habitat,” Watkins wrote.
Watkins shared pictures of the reptile, and experts helped determine that it was a Gray Rat snake, which is harmless, aside from the fright it caused.
“In the snake’s defense, he was just trying to reach the homeowner about their car’s extended warranty,” Watkins remarked.
While it seems extremely unlikely, it is possible for snakes to make their way into a home’s plumbing as they often include one or more pipes that vent out of the roof. If the reptile is determined enough, it could find its way to one of the pipes.
The homeowner was not injured by the snake, but the situation did offer a reminder that you should always look before you go.
