An Amazon Prime Air delivery drone crashed into the side of an apartment complex in Richardson Wednesday afternoon, prompting a safety check by local firefighters and an investigation by the company.
The incident occurred near Routh Creek Parkway just after 5 p.m., and although the drone struck the building and later landed on a sidewalk, no injuries were reported and the device did not ignite.
A spokesperson for Amazon said the company is investigating what caused the crash, will cover repairs to the damaged exterior, and apologized for any inconvenience to residents as officials continue to review the situation.
