A North Carolina pastor was arrested after police say he tried to push his wife's coworker into a McDonald's deep fryer.
The incident happened at a McDonald's in High Point, about 75 miles northeast of Charlotte, where the suspect's wife was a manager-in-training.
The suspect, 57-year-old Dwayne Waden, went to the restaurant after his wife called him on Thursday because the employees were "disrespecting her," The News and Observer reported, citing a police report.
Waden walked behind the front counter, placed his hands around the neck of an employee and pushed the employee's head "toward the deep fryer," per the report. Waden also allegedly punched the worker several times.
It took several other workers to pull Waden off the employee, who suffered a large contusion to his forehead and right eye, and scratches on his neck, according to the report.
In a statement to The News and Observer, the McDonald's franchise owner said they were "appalled by this act of violence," adding that the safety and security of employees and customers is a top priority. While it's not clear if she was fired or quit, Waden's wife no longer works at the company.
Waden was arrested on an assault charge and released on a $1,000 bond, CBS News reported.
According to multiple reports, Waden's Facebook profile lists him as the pastor of Elevated Life International Ministries.
