California twins that were born just 15 minutes apart will have an interesting story to tell for the rest of their lives.

Mother Fatima Madrigal gave birth to Alfredo Antonio Trujillo at 11:45 p.m. on Dec. 31, and then gave birth to Alfredo's twin sister Aylin Yolanda Trujillo at exactly midnight on Jan. 1 in a new year, the Natividad Medical Center announced on Sunday.

“It’s crazy to me that they are twins and have different birthdays,” Madrigal said in a press release, obtained by People. “I was surprised and happy that she arrived at midnight.”

Alfredo weighed 6 lbs., 1 oz, while his younger sister weighed in at 5 lbs., 14 oz.

Dr. Ana Abril Arias, a family doctor at the Natividad Medical Group, said in the statement that "this was definitely one of the most memorable deliveries of my career."

"It was an absolute pleasure to help these little ones arrive here safely in 2021 and 2022," Arias said. "What an amazing way to start the New Year!"

Alfredo and Aylin will be welcomed at home by their three older siblings, two girls and a boy. Madrigal added that her oldest son is thrilled to have a brother.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, there are about 120,000 twins born each year in the Unites States and make up just 3% of all births.
