Almost 400 Transportation Security Administration staff and workers at Los Angeles International Airport tested positive for COVID, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.

In the last week, 228 TSA staffers tested positive for virus, according to the department’s list of active outbreaks at non-residential settings.
In that list, there were 154 American Airlines staffers confirmed to have tested positive for the virus, while Southwest Airlines had 28 confirmations.
A TSA official told the Los Angeles Times that while numbers used by L.A. County health officials were provided by local TSA officials, they do not correctly represent “current infections.”
“Our infection rate for LAX is being inaccurately reported by about seven times higher than we are currently seeing in our operation,” they said.
These numbers come as Los Angeles County could be reinstating a mask mandate. County Public Health Director Barbara Ferrer said on Thursday that infection numbers seemed to be leveling off, and that it all comes down to the numbers in the coming days, according to City News Service.
