Months before 22-year-old Sidney Green died from stab wounds allegedly inflicted by her own father, he left a birthday message on her Facebook page.
“For the last 22 years of my life you have been my energy, my fire, my challenge, my anger, my resolve, my heart, my fury, my love, my baby girl, my daughter,” said 51-year-old Laurence Green on Feb. 19, according to a report in the Tampa Bay Times.
In the comments, Sidney Green responded that she loved him.
Just after 7 p.m. Sunday, police were called to Bay Cove Apartments in Clearwater, Fla., for a stabbing incident said a press release from the Clearwater Police Department. Authorities said Laurence Green had been armed with a knife while fighting his daughter’s boyfriend, identified as 22-year-old Kyle Peter.
Sidney Green tried to get between the men, police said. When first responders arrived, they transported her to Morton Plant Hospital, where she soon died from stab wound injuries.
So far, Laurence Green has been charged with manslaughter in relation to his daughter’s death and was booked in to the Pinellas County Jail. The man identified as Sidney Green's boyfriend has not been charged as of Tuesday afternoon and it is unclear if he sustained injuries during the fight, said the Clearwater Police Department.
“The investigation continues,” police said.
