When people talk about invasive species, the animals in question aren’t usually attempting a home invasion. But that appeared to be the case in Florida when a persistent reptile scaled the window of an Apopka home.
Jocelyn Penson spotted a truly massive lizard climbing the window of her son’s home and posted video of the incident on her Facebook page.
“OMG! LOOK AT THIS!” Penson wrote in the post that accompanied the video. “Look at what came to pay him a visit today!”
The creature was a Savannah Monitor Lizard native to the sub-Saharan area of Africa. It is not generally found in the Sunshine State, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission.
“Looks like Godzilla to me!” she added. “Needless to say I won’t be visiting him any time soon! And it’s on the front porch!”
Sounds like her son has room for his new friend to stay over.
