Most women meet 'mansplainers' several times a week, but here's where you'll see them most often: survey

Running into a mansplainer is a common occurrence for most women, but ladies in some cities have it way worse than others.

In these places, the tendency for some men to condescendingly explain things to women — often on topics they are already knowledgeable about — appears to be more widespread.

Online betting site JeffBet surveyed over 2,000 women across the U.S. about the mansplaining they regularly encounter, such as how often and where they encounter it, and which topics men mansplain the most. Analysts then indexed the data to identify the cities and states where the odds of encountering a mansplainer are the highest.

The survey found that an average of 52% of American women experience mansplaining weekly, averaging three encounters per week. A whopping one in 10 American women say they experience mansplaining every day.

According to the ranking, Oregon is the state with the most mansplainers, and Portland is the mansplaining capital of America. In this city, 72% of women are mansplained weekly, averaging four mansplains per week.

Rounding out the top five cities with the most mansplainers is Albuquerque, New Mexico; Boston, Massachusetts; Kansas City, Missouri; and Denver, Colorado.

On the more humble side, Philadelphia, New Orleans and Indianapolis are the cities with the fewest mansplainers.

As for where it happens the most, the survey shows the workplace is the top location for women to experience mansplaining, with over half (56%) encountering mansplaining at work. Close behind is family, with 54% of women experiencing mansplaining at home, and public spaces like at the grocery store, mechanic or during a night out (42%).

When it comes to the topics that are most commonly mansplained to women, work or professional expertise takes the top spot (59%), followed by politics and current events (57%), home or maintenance (53%), sports (44%), technology (41%), intellectual topics (40%) and finance (38%), per the survey.
