INDIANA (WBBM NEWSRADIO) --The Indiana doctor who performed the abortion on a 10-year-old rape victim is considering legal action against the state’s Attorney General.
Attorney General Todd Rokita has threatened to go after the license of Dr. Caitlin Bernard.
During an appearance on Fox News, he called her an “abortion activist acting as a doctor.”
Rokita contended that Bernard has a history of failing to report abortions.
"We're gathering the information. We're gathering the evidence as we speak and we're gonna fight this to the end including looking at her license," he said.
"If she failed to report-In Indiana, it's a crime to intentionally not report (an abortion)."
Documents show that the doctor followed the law, reporting the procedure she performed on the child within the required timeframe and reporting that she was a rape victim.
Despite that, Rokita’s office said he intends to move forward with an investigation.
Bernard’s attorney said she’s considering legal action against those who have “smeared” her.
