On Friday, Kia announced that it recalled more than 460,000 2020-2024 Telluride SUVs after it was discovered that they could have a fire risk.
Kia has informed owners of the 462,869 recalled vehicles that they should “park outside” and away from other cars and structures due to the fire risk, according to recall documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
The risk of fire is caused by the front power seat motor, which could overheat due to a stuck slide knob, Kia shared in the recall.
Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by mail starting July 30, or they can check to see if their SUV is affected by calling Kia’s customer service line, 1-800-333-4542.
As of now, there have not been any accidents or injuries as a result of the defective seat knob.
Kia said that dealers will install a bracket for the power seat switch back covers and replace the seat slide knobs at no charge to owners.
