There's talk about a potential vaccine for humans now against Lyme Disease.
Dr. Mike Hutchinson of Animal General in Cranberry Township says based on our tick population, it would be a God-send for anyone who lives near the woods.
“The real neat thing is, the technology that they’re talking about using is the exact same technology we use on dogs and that I like a lot,” said Dr. Hutchinson. “I’ve been using it for years now on dogs, very few reactions to it.”
Dr. Hutchinson says the vaccine doesn’t create a lot of negative reactions on humans and plans to get it himself when it becomes available
But, Hutchinson says its not known when the vaccine will come out.
“They told us five years ago we’d have it in a couple years and here we are five years later, we still don’t have it,” said Hutchinson.
