A man in Poland is alleged to have conducted multiple robberies at a local mall with an apparently clever ruse: He posed perfectly still in a storefront pretending to be a mannequin until closing time.

Once the mall was locked up for the night, he went about pilfering various businesses.

“A 22-year-old with a bag in his hand froze motionless, pretending to be a mannequin in front of a shop window,” Polish authorities said in a translated statement. “In this way, he wanted to avoid being exposed by the cameras.”

Police allege that the man successfully robbed a jewelry stand the first time he used the ruse, then returned to the ploy on “another occasion.”

His second heist involved a new outfit from a clothing store and two separate trips to a food station where he “ate his fill.”

Eventually though, the brazen burglar was caught by security guards when his “luck ran out,” according to police.

If convicted, the man, who has prior convictions for stealing from a mall, could face up to 10 years in prison.
