An Arizona woman has been arrested and charged with attempting to poison her estranged husband by mixing bleach into his coffee.

Melody Feliciano Johnson, 39, was arrested on the basis of video evidence provided to police by her accuser, footage that he says shows her pouring bleach into his coffee maker with the intent of poisoning him.

The victim has been identified by CNN as Roby Johnson, a service member with the U.S. Air Force, who said he began to suspect foul play earlier this year when the couple was stationed in Germany. Johnson said he noticed his “coffee was tasting bad,” according to court documents.

Johnson said he tested the coffee with chemical strips normally used for testing pool water, and that they registered high levels of chlorine that weren’t present in his tap water. That prompted Johnson to place hidden cameras disguised as smoke alarms in his home when the couple moved back to the States in July.

That’s when he captured footage of his wife that he says shows his wife retrieving the bleach from the laundry room and bringing it to the kitchen where she poured it into the coffee maker, which no one else in the family used other than him.

The couple lived together with their child despite currently undergoing divorce proceedings.

Melody Johnson has been charged with attempted first-degree homicide, aggravated assault and adding poison to food/drink.
