During a rally over the weekend, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) made a comparison between former President Donald Trump and Jesus, saying they are both convicted felons.

The comments from Greene came at a rally in Las Vegas and were in reference to Trump’s recent conviction for covering up hush money payments he made in 2016 to an adult film star and Jesus’s conviction by the Romans over 2,000 years ago.

“The Democrats and the fake news media want to constantly talk about, ‘Oh, President Trump is a convicted felon,’” Greene said. “Well, you want to know something? The man that I worship is also a convicted felon, and he was murdered on a Roman cross.”

This isn’t the first time that Greene has compared Trump to Jesus, as she also did so before his arraignment in New York last year.

“Trump is joining some of the most incredible people in history being arrested today. Nelson Mandela was arrested, served time in prison. Jesus — Jesus was arrested and murdered by the Roman government,” Greene said in an interview with Right Side Broadcasting.

In the hours after the verdict came in, the Trump team reported that it raised $35 million, showing that his base has rallied around him after becoming a felon instead of fleeing.

Polls also show that voters have not been dismayed by Trump’s conviction, with the former president continuing to outperform President Joe Biden in several battleground states.

Trump’s sentencing is scheduled for the beginning of July, just days before the Republican National Convention kicks off in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
