An Israeli airstrike made in retaliation for a Hamas terror attack has claimed the lives of five members of a Minnesota family.
The Adwan family of Blaine, Minnesota is mourning the loss of their loved ones that included two children, after they were notified of their deaths from an Gaza hospital.
Executive Director of the Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations Jaylani Hussein spoke on the family's behalf.
"A Blaine family unfortunately had a tragic news that the wife lost five members of her family due to an Israeli attack in Gaza," Hussein told WCCO, adding that these deaths have shaken the community.
"Many Minnesotans who have family are unable to reach them," says Hussein. "Some of them even are unaware if they're still alive. So this is very tragic. It has hit our community pretty hard and this particular family, the Adwan family."
The news comes as Israel rains down missiles on Gaza following the unprovoked attack by Hamas that killed at least 1,400 Israelis, many of them civilians.
The Adwan Family is calling for a ceasefire in Israel to prevent more deaths and Hussein says the family is asking for prayers and the end of the conflict in Israel.
