A woman from East Lansdowne, PA was killed on Sunday after police say a man fired an AR-15 rifle into his neighbor's home.

30-year-old Yousuf Bahal was arrested and charged with murder, reckless endangerment, among other charges, according to The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Police arrived at the scene on Penn Boulevard on Sunday around 2 a.m. and head and saw Bahal firing gunshots into a home, according to the affidavit of probable cause for Bahal’s arrest.

Bahal surrendered and stopped shooting once police arrived and told him to stop.

Police found a woman inside the home that was fired upon suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was later identified as 35-year-old Samantha Hill, according to 6ABC, and was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.

Bahal admitted to the shooting in an interview with detectives, according to the affidavit. He said he fired at least three shots through a window, believing it to be his neighbor. Bahal said in a statement that he thought the neighbor was "sneaking into [Bahal’s] house and stealing things" and "blowing smoke through a plastic straw into his house through the air conditioner."

A man later identified as Hill's boyfriend also lives in the house, and was home at the time of the shooting, but was not harmed.

Neighbor Robert Jones lives across the street and told 6ABC what he heard from outside his house.

"I heard two, then a couple of minutes later I heard two more. I heard someone say, 'Put your hands up.' That's when I looked out my window and 14 cop cars show up," Jones said.

Police said that the rifle used in the shooting is registered to Bahal. He also had a permit to carry a 9mm Glock handgun that was in his pocket when police arrested him.

He will appear in court on March 1 to face first and second-degree murder charges, among other related offenses.
