An Oklahoma megachurch pastor shocked his congregation over the weekend and was forced to apologize after he took a demonstration during his sermon too far.
As Michael Todd preached about cultivating a connection with the Lord, he leaned over his outstretched hand. Just then, he coughed and spit into his palm and remarked “receiving vision from God might get nasty.”
Then, as the lung butter glistened for the crowd in the overhead lights, Todd smeared the expectorate across the face of the man he had pulled from the crowd to the audible disgust of the congregation in attendance.
Hearing the disapproval ripple through the onlookers, Todd then said, “Do you hear and see the responses of the people? What I’m telling you is how you just reacted is how the people in your life will react when God is doing what it takes for the miracle.”
Video of the incident quickly went viral, earning Todd some less than positive publicity on social media.
TMZ later reported that the man smeared with Todd’s spit was his younger brother, but the power of social media backlash still compelled Todd to issue an apology video on Monday via his Instagram account.
