The news was kept quiet for a few days but better late than never: According to People Magazine, Fort Worth had a royal visitor over the weekend.

The Stockyards Championship Rodeo at the Cowtown Coliseum played host to Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex, who was given the full tour and decked out with western gear.

Championship Rodeo secretary Cindy Reid tweeted a photo of the prince with the caption: "Where was Prince Harry Saturday night? Oooooh, just hanging out behind the bucking chutes at the Stockyards Championship Rodeo!! Loooove it!! Thank you for the visit!!"

Some British tabloids, including the Daily Mail, have questioned how the prince can justify showing up at the rodeo, given that his wife Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, is such a big supporter of animals rights causes.

Meanwhile, the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) has criticized the prince for his attendance.

"It’s extremely disappointing to see that Prince Harry made the misjudgment to attend a rodeo, a crude, old amusement for bored cowboys who view animals as nothing more than things," Catie Cryar, a PETA assistant manager told the Bay Area News Group.
