(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Ahead of Monday’s solar eclipse, health officials in Illinois issued a recall on certain solar eclipse glasses that were sold in six-packs on Amazon.

The recalled glasses were called the “Biniki Solar Eclipse Glasses AAS Approved 2024 – CE and ISO Certified Safe Shades for Direct Sun Viewing.”

They were also labeled as “EN ISO 12312-1:2022,” officials said. Safe glasses should carry a different ISO designation of “12312-2.”

Officials said those who are in possession of the recalled glasses should not use them as doing so could lead to serious eye damage.

Symptoms of eye damage may include: eye pain, and a feeling like a foreign body is stuck in the eye.
