An emotional scene is unfolding in Rochester after someone posted a video on social media showing a woman calling a little boy and a bystander the "n-word" last week.

The incident took place at a playground in Rochester. The video shows a woman holding a child being confronted by the man recording her. The woman who made the racial slurs claims the child had taken something from her child.

The person recording the video alludes to the child being targeted as having special needs. The video on TikTok has more than ten million views.

The woman who made the slur has also started up a fundraising campaign for her protection as she said she's gotten threats since it happened. That has raised over $600,000 so far.

The Rochester branch of the NAACP also created a GoFundMe. They say those funds will be used to support the boy and his family. That fundraiser, which is now closed, raised $341,594.

At a rally on Monday, protesters decried racism in their community and will urge prosecutors to take action.

"And I just wanna tell you all that the call to action is for us to do better, to be better, to stand in your truth," a protester said Monday. "To not be ashamed of doing what is right every single time. It's all right to do what is right and sometimes doing what is right is not what is easy, but doing what is right will produce good."

Rochester Police completed its investigation into the video. They say their findings have been submitted to the Rochester City Attorney's Office for review and consideration of a charging decision.

"Justice needs to be more than a word right now. It needs to become a standard," said a protester.

Another rally is planned for Wednesday with members of the local NAACP.
