Trump calls for New York hush money judge to be disbarred

President-elect Donald Trump shared his displeasure this weekend with New York Judge Juan Merchan, who is presiding over Trump’s hush money case, and announced that sentencing would begin on Jan. 10.

Trump took to Truth Social on Saturday morning to rip into Merchan, claiming his innocence in the case once again despite the 34-felony conviction.

“I never falsified business records. It is a fake, made-up charge by a corrupt judge who is just doing the work of the Biden/Harris Injustice Department, an attack on their political opponent, ME!” he wrote on Truth Social.

“He created a case where there was none. Keeps a ‘gag order’ on me so that I can’t talk about how crooked he is,” Trump continued. “The Fake News knows all about it, but they refuse to talk. He may be the most conflicted judge in New York State history.”

After securing his return to the White House in November, Trump requested that the case be dismissed. However, Merchan denied the request, saying late last year that sentencing would go forward.

Still, Merchan has seemed sympathetic to Trump’s situation, signaling he may propose no punishment for the case connected to Trump paying an adult film star to cover up an alleged affair during the 2016 election. The Supreme Court’s presidential immunity ruling may play a role in that decision if Merchan makes it.

Despite what some believe may happen, Trump has continued to go after Merchan, saying that he should be disbarred and claiming that he is a “totally out of control, Trump-hating judge.”

“The judge should be disbarred! This is why people, and companies, are FLEEING New York,” he wrote Saturday. “A corrupt court system.”

Trump also continued to say that the case had political motivations and that the charges were only brought to begin with because of his political opponents.

“There has never been a President who was so evilly and illegally treated as I. Corrupt Democrat judges and prosecutors have gone against a political opponent of a President, ME, at levels of injustice never seen before,” Trump wrote in a second post.

“Corrupt judges, or judges so blinded by their hatred of me and my political ideology to ‘MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN,’ are making a mockery of the United States Judicial System, and the World is watching in disgust,” he added.

The president-elect went on to discuss special counsel Jack Smith’s decision to drop the federal charges he was bringing against him, saying the same should be done by Merchan. Smith’s decision came after Trump’s victory because of a DOJ policy against prosecuting a sitting president.

“Deranged Jack Smith, the evil and sinister prosecutor appointed by Crooked Joe Biden to ‘take me down,’ was found to be illegally appointed by a CORRUPT DOJ and FBI, and all of his many charges against me were dropped or dismissed,” he wrote Saturday. “His illegal raid of my home, Mar-a-Lago, will go down as one of the ‘dirtiest tricks’ ever perpetrated by one candidate, a dumb as a rock, Sleepy Joe Biden, on another.”

Trump went on to say that he still has “confidence that the Appellate Courts will bring JUSTICE TO AMERICA!!!”
