President Donald Trump has announced plans to personally fund the installation of two 100-foot flagpoles on the White House grounds, a move he described as a long-overdue addition to the historic property.

The flagpoles, which will be placed on the North and South Lawns, are set to prominently display the American flag and are expected to be installed within the next week.

"They’ve needed flagpoles for 200 years," he said. "It’s something I’ve often noticed—there isn’t a proper flagpole here. So, we’re putting one on each side, and they’re going to be two beautiful poles." Trump emphasized that the project would be fully funded out of his own pocket, though he did not specify whether the funds would come from his personal finances or campaign committee.

The White House currently features a flagpole atop its roof, which flies the American flag 24/7, alongside the POW/MIA flag since 2019. However, Trump’s initiative marks the first time in recent history that additional flagpoles will be installed on the grounds themselves. The president’s decision has sparked mixed reactions, with supporters praising the gesture as a patriotic enhancement and critics questioning the necessity of the project.

The announcement comes as Trump continues to make aesthetic changes to the White House during his second term. Recent updates include gold-trimmed portrait frames in the Oval Office and the addition of two Trump portraits to the White House walls, one of which replaced a portrait of former President Barack Obama.
