U.S. Representative Greg Steube (R-Fla.) filed four articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden Friday.
These articles include alleged: abuse of power, bribery, Hobbs Act extortion, and honest services fraud; obstruction of justice; fraud and financial involvement in drugs and prostitution.
“It’s long past time to impeach Joe Biden,” said Steube, per a press release. “He has undermined the integrity of his office, brought disrepute on the Presidency, betrayed his trust as President, and acted in a manner subversive of the rule of law and justice at the expense of America’s citizens.”
He also referred to the president’s family as the “Biden Crime Family,” and each of the articles reference members of Biden’s family. Biden’s son, Hunter, was named in three of the four articles. In the fourth, Steube alleges that “Biden family money” was used to pay for illegal drug transcations
Hunter Biden is currently facing tax and firearm charges. A special counsel was announced this week in the investigation. President Biden has denied any connection to the allegations against his son.
In addition to Hunter, Steube’s articles of impeachment reference the president’s brother, James Biden.
“Robert Hunter Biden (Hunter Biden) and James Biden sold access to then Vice President Joseph Robinette Biden, Jr. (Joe Biden) while he was in office from 2009 to 2017 and sold promised access to a future Biden Presidential Administration while he was out of office from 2017 to 2021,” said the first article. It claims that then Vice President Joe Biden “assisted by making appearances, phone calls, meeting with the ‘business partners,’ and knowingly allowing his family members to promise access to him and actions by him in furtherance of these schemes.”
According to a CNN report, Hunter Biden’s former business partner Devon Archer told the House Oversight Committee that Hunter “was selling the ‘illusion’ of access to his father,” citing an unnamed source that “reiterated that Archer provided no evidence connecting President Joe Biden to any of his son’s foreign business dealings.”
Allegations of “access” to Biden were also used as the basis of the third article’s accusation of fraud.
Regarding the second article’s allegation of “obstruction of justice,” Steube said “members of the Biden campaign improperly colluded with Justice Department (DOJ) officials to improperly interfere with investigations,” into Hunter Biden’s alleged tax crimes, citing “IRS whistleblowers.”
Fox News reported Saturday that Steube’s articles of impeachment “jumped ahead of at least four GOP-led committee investigations pursuing avenues to impeach Biden or his top officials.”
