Large explosions near the Ukrainian capital of Kyiv have rocked the city, as videos of the blasts show the entire sky lighting up from the Russian attacks.
CBS News correspondent Charlie D'Agata was finishing up a live broadcast on Wednesday night when the orange flash of two nearby explosions shocked him and other reporters.
"What the hell was that?" D'Agata said. "I don't know, it was almost like lighting. There was a big flash and then."
D'Agata and the other reporters filming on a roof in Kyiv took cover immediately, while the sound of the explosion can be heard a few seconds after the flashes.
The Washington Post reported that a large explosion took place west of the capital on Thursday in the early morning.
The blast appeared to hit an area far away from the center of Kyiv, as residents were told to take shelter from any possible explosions. Other angles of the Russian attacks can be seen online here.
Russian forces outside of Kyiv have stalled and have moved more westward to encircle the city.
People have been fleeing Ukraine for over a week, as there has now been more than 1 million people to escape the country. Woman and children make up most of the people that have fled, as men age 18-60 have been ordered to stay to help fight and defend their country.
