WATCH: Brave pigs fight off black bear

If you had to put your money on a fight between a bear and a pig, who do you think would win? If you chose the bear, this video from Connecticut might have you reconsidering your decision.

A video taking the internet by storm shows a pair of pigs fiercely protecting their territory from a black bear that climbed into their pen in New Milford, about 50 miles west of Hartford.

The Vietnamese pot-bellied pigs, named Hammy and Mary, didn't take too kindly to the big, furry intruder.

Ring security video shows Mary, the white pig, lunging at the bear after it climbed over the fence. But it was Hammy, the black pig, that really showed the bear they meant business.

"Hammy, the little one especially, he's afraid of his own shadow and the way he came charging out when he seen Mary tussling with the bear," Rebecca Shaw, who owns the pigs, told NBC Connecticut. "He was like 'Oh no, no way, get out.'"

As Mary stood in the back of the pen, Hammy confined the bear to a corner. After realizing this was one pair of porkers he didn't want to mess with, the bear quickly hopped back over the fence to safety.

The entire incident happened in less than 30 seconds. The bear didn't lay a paw on the pigs.

"They're fine," owner Kevin David told WTNH. "They're some heavy pigs and we're pretty sure that bear is still a cub."

David said he doesn't think the bear was trying to attack the pigs, but was rather interested in the spot where Mary was digging.
