Former film producer Harvey Weinstein pleaded not guilty to 11 counts of rape and sexual assault in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday.
Weinstein pleaded not guilty to the same charges in July, shortly after he was extradited to California from New York, where he faces a 23-year prison sentence for sex crimes committed there.
A judge sustained the defense's challenge to one of those counts involving a particular woman. L.A. County prosecutors proceeded to bring an amended indictment against him in August, which revived the previously dismissed count of sexual battery.
Prosecutors filed a motion Monday asking the court to allow some of Weinstein's other accusers to testify at trial in support of the five women who've alleged the 11 claims against him in L.A. court. The motion was filed under seal, but prosecutors previously said they would as that 10 to 12 witnesses be permitted to testify to Weinstein's "prior bad acts."
Weinstein's attorney has filed a motion to dismiss the entire case, arguing that the prosecution failed to present enough evidence to the grand jury to bring the charges.
Weinstein's attorney accused the D.A.'s office of "opening up a water cannon of allegations against Mr. Weinstein through numerous uncharged alleged victims."
Weinstein is set to return to court for a hearing on Dec. 8.
